Pleased about the successful cooperation: Mipa board members Klaus Fritzsche, Markus Fritzsche, Dr. Uwe Rohr and Robert Jungwirth (back row, left to right) as well as Deputy Bavarian Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger (front row, left) and District Administrator Peter Dreier (front row, right).

In times of the coronavirus crisis, disinfectants are as scarce as they are important. In order to ensure the supply of the healthcare industry, MIPA SE, one of the largest paint and varnish manufacturers in Germany, is filling disinfectants on behalf of the Bavarian state government.

At three Mipa Group sites, the machines are recently not only working for the filling of paints for car refinishing, industrial applications, wooden surfaces or buildings but for a different type of product: disinfectants. In view of the increasing spread of COVID-19, Deputy Bavarian Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger and District Administrator Peter Dreier initiated this campaign in cooperation with selected large companies in the region.

On Thursday, 2nd April 2020, the first lorry with almost 20,000 litres of disinfectants has left the headquarters of MIPA SE in Essenbach. Since the beginning of this month, already 100,000 litres have been transported to the collection station in Munich. There the supplies are distributed to those that are now particularly important – hospitals, emergency services and other important organisations. Therefore, every day one or two lorries are loaded with disinfectants in 5 and 10 litre containers at the Mipa headquarters in Essenbach and at the production sites in Regensburg and Landshut. However, it would be possible to provide even more if the raw materials are available. At the moment the filling is carried out in addition to the usual ongoing production, whereby the company's own production would also be restricted if necessary.

As one of the few companies suitable for filling disinfectants on this scale, MIPA SE can thus make an important contribution to ensuring the availability of urgently needed resources. The technical requirements for a large-scale operation of this kind are already fulfilled at MIPA: Modern machinery and equipment, personnel trained in handling hazardous materials and the corresponding logistics. This project shows that fast and non-bureaucratic cooperation is more important than ever.
