In Madrid a sculpture was unveiled in memory of Miguel De La Quadra-Salcedo y Gayarre. Miguel De La Quadra-Salcedo (1932-2016) was an athlete at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. He then worked as an ethnobotanist in the Amazonas region of Colombia. He became famous in Spain as a reporter in crisis and war zones, such as the Congo or Vietnam. He was the founder and director of the Ruta Quetzal BBVA program (formerly "Adventures 92"). The Quetzal Route is a journey to promote exchanges mainly among young Spanish and Portuguese-speaking people from Europe and South America. Products from MIPA now give the monument to this extraordinary personality a striking appearance.
