New generation of automated mixing machines

  • Mipa News

Automation, digitalization, and AI are transforming paint application processes as well. The demands for precision, efficiency, and reproducibility are increasing – and modern body shops are looking for smart solutions to actively shape this transformation.

Under the guiding principle of Smart Mixing, MIPA offers a comprehensive concept for the future of colour mixing: a perfectly coordinated combination of intelligent machine technology, innovative colour matching tools and powerful software. The goal is to simplify and accelerate the entire mixing process while ensuring consistently high quality.

At the center of this approach are two next-generation automated mixing machines: the fully automatic Mipa Abtönautomat CR 6 and the semi-automatic Mipa Sunrace. Both systems deliver reproducible colour mixes with maximum efficiency, high speed, and outstanding ease of use.

The Mipa Abtönautomat CR 6 sets new benchmarks with its volumetric dosing technology. It enables highly precise mixing from as little as 0.0077 ml, making it ideal for applications such as spot repair. Because the machine operates independently of a scale, it saves valuable time during dosing. Even more time can be saved when job data is conveniently sent from the office. A job list appears on the machine’s display and simply needs to be confirmed. Printed labels are then attached to the mixing cups, which are automatically filled. The compact, ergonomic design simplifies handling and allows toner containers to be emptied almost completely and without residue. The smaller version, the Mipa Abtönautomat CR 4, also guarantees the highest dosing accuracy and process reliability.

The new Mipa Sunrace offers a cost-effective, semi-automatic alternative for precise colour mixing using the Mipa WBC mixing system. After selecting the desired colour formula in the MipaMix software, the corresponding toners are highlighted with light signals, removed manually, and placed onto the conveyor. The machine then uses an integrated scale for precise dosing. A major advantage: Mipa WBC mixing tinters can be used directly in their original bottles – no decanting necessary. The Mipa Sunrace supports mix quantities from just 0.015 ml up to 7.5 kg, making it suitable for nearly any application.

Another key component of the Smart Mixing system is the new X-Rite MA 5C colour measurement device. This state-of-the-art multi-angle spectrophotometer, equipped with an integrated camera, captures both colour and texture data in a single step. Fast, precise, and user-friendly, it forms the basis for accurate mixing formulas, which are generated directly in the MipaMix Elite software. The seamless interaction between device, software, and machine ensures maximum process reliability and outstanding results.

With Smart Mixing, MIPA offers a fully integrated system that prepares body shops for the future – connected, automated, and practical.
